Boiler Cap Issues

Boiler Gauge Not Returning to Zero

Boiler Gauge Fogging
Batch 1 Machines:
Send us an email at support@odysseyespresso.com to request a replacement boiler cap gauge
Batch 2 Machines and after:
With the new 2 piece boiler cap design, sometimes these foggy gauges can be fixed by tightening the screw under the boiler cap to further compress the o-ring that seals it. We recommend trying this first and giving it a week (though usually only a few days is necessary) to see if the issue resolves itself.
If tightening the hex bolt on the underside of the boiler cap does not resolve the issue after a week, send us an email at support@odysseyespresso.com to request a replacement boiler cap gauge
Tools required: 3mm hex key
💡 The wooden cap may expand slightly after multiple heat cycles, making it more difficult to remove and install the gauge. Don't hesitate to apply firm pressure on the back where the Allen key inserts to push it out.
Boiler Cap Not Clicking but Not Leaking
Batch 1 Machines:
Send us an email at support@odysseyespresso.com to request a thicker boiler cap o-ring if you would like to get the 'click' feeling back. If your boiler cap is not leaking, this lack of 'click' at the detent will not cause issues during use of the machine.
Batch 2 Machines and after:
The v2 version of our boiler cap is a 2 piece design - tightening the bottom screw on this cap (with the included 3mm hex key) will compress a spring internally and add more resistance to the locking mechanism, and vice versa to loosen.
Boiler Cap Leaking
The boiler cap lugs in Batch 1 machines were finished by hand and sometimes this meant the o-rings settle do not provide enough of a seal once they settle in. This issue is difficult to catch during QC due to how long it takes for it to appear.
Batch 1 Machines:
Send us an email at support@odysseyespresso.com to request a thicker boiler cap o-ring. We will ship you two different sizes, a 'thicker' and 'thickest' o-ring. If the 'thicker' o-ring still eventually leaks, your cap will need the 'thickest' version.

The v2 version of our boiler cap is a 2 piece design - tightening the bottom screw on this cap (with the included 3mm hex key) will compress a spring internally and add more resistance to the locking mechanism, and vice versa to loosen.

💡 The boiler cap may be slightly harder to screw in after installing the new O-ring.
We recommend applying a bit of Molykote to reduce friction. It will become easier to screw in after the O-ring settles through a few heat cycles.
