Cannot Pull a Shot at the Rated Pressure
We offer 6 and 8 bar springs with the Argos and some early machines got a free gift of a 7 bar spring.
See here for how to identify your springs.
Why You Might Not Reach Rated Pressure
It’s common for new users to be unable to reach the rated pressure of the installed spring. This usually comes down to two factors:
- Air bleed technique – A near-perfect air bleed of the grouphead is required to achieve maximum rated spring pressure at the start of your shot. Any trapped air will waste spring pressure compressing air instead of applying pressure to the puck.
- Grind size & puck preparation – If your grind size does not allow for full saturation of the puck from boiler pressure, some spring pressure will be used to fully wet the puck.
If both these conditions are satisfied, when you let go of the lever, you'll see no quick pop up of the lever, as there is no air to compress and you'll be utilizing the maximum pressure available to the spring.
NOTE: All our springs have a tolerance of ±6%.
- 8 bar spring → actual maximum pressure: 7.52 – 8.48 bar
- 7 bar spring → actual maximum pressure: 6.58 – 7.42 bar
- 6 bar spring → actual maximum pressure: 5.64 – 6.36 bar
